The bookend the Battle of Grunwald presents a scene of the painting carried out from 1872 to 1878 by the polish artist Jan Matejko.
This huge oil on canvas 9,87 x 4,26 meters depicts the famous battle of Grunwald, also called battle of Tannenberg, fought in 1410 and where the armies of the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania defeated the German–Prussian Teutonic Knights. The remaining character used for the design of the bookend is the grand duke Vytautas the Great.
This bookend is part of the Poland serie designed on the thematic of the works of Art from the National Museum in Warsaw.
