The bookend the Royal gate of Versailles presents the famous monumental gate made under the reign of Louis XIV around 1680 by Jules Hardouin-Mansart. Removed during the construction of the wing Gabriel of the palace in 1772, the Royal Gate was reconstructed in 2005-2008.
The edge of the bookend depicts the elevation palace in front of the court of Honor.
