Design and fabrication of bookends
The laser cutting
All our creations are made using the technique of metal laser cutting. The models are created from sketches drawn by hand or directly on the computer, until the production of the final vectorial file in the proprietary format and which will be directly transmitted into the laser cutting machine.
We use 1.5 mm DC01 steel plates which ensure a standardized flatness and provide a high quality support.
Designing the final formatted laser cut file
The bookends are cut on modern laser cutting platforms thanks to our specialized partner. This manufacturing process is widely used in the industry domain. It allows the manufacturing of complex shapes with very sharp precision. Our knowledge of the constraints connected to laser cutting (shapes, sections, cutting optimization) allows us to make very diverse and complex decorations that are not limited to bookends.

The painting process
The painting is performed using a powder coating technique. This treatment consists in an application of colored pigments thanks to an electrostatic process and their fixing through an oven brought to a temperature of approximately 280°C. This technique ensures a regular and uniform deposit on all the parts the support. The color used is a matt black (9005) from the RAL color chart.
A degreasing and cleaning process is performed prior the painting itself.
Preparing the bookends for painting
Preparation and packaging of bookends
Each bookend is equipped with silicone or foam anti-slip pads. They have a template of 19 cm high (7.5 inches). They are designed with two folds. Stability is ensured by anti-slip pads but also by self-locking thanks to the weight of the books on the inner strip.
The bookends are packaged in nice specific offset printed boxes for one bookend or for a pair of bookends.
Bookends supplying
The quality and originality of our thematic creations have been chosen for the design and production of thematic bookends for many museums gift shops. These are intended for wholesale supplies, for both institutions and companies. Do not hesitate to contact us to discuss the possibilities that are offered.
At the same time, we are actively expanding the thematic bookends offer for the general public, this is the reason of the opening of this website entirely dedicated to bookends. We have chosen to focus our creations towards historical, cultural, scientific, artistic themes, in order to differenciate from more common or mass production market.

Bookends made in the European Union
If the bookends are designed by a French designer (myself), they are cut on machines designed by the European leader and one of the worldwide leaders of the laser cutting domain, a German manufacturer, they are painted by a Polish company, and prepared and packaged in Warsaw, where I live. In fact, I can control and check the whole process of fabrication.
Laser cutting designing
Thanks to my skills in computer techniques and my marked passion for drawing, I developed this activity of creation by laser cutting in 2009 with a range of wall clocks and wall ornaments which you can find a part on the delorentis.com website.
The activity also extends to the customized design of decorations dedicated to companies and individuals.
International deliveries
A part of our bookends are shipped within the European Union countries. For these destinations we use the services of the international carrier DPD and UPS. For shipments to other countries outside the European Union, including Great Britain, Switzerland, Norway, etc., we use the services of the Polish Post and their partners abroad.
For shipments to America, Asia and Middle east (United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, South Korea, Israel), shipments are made using the Polish Post services and their partners abroad.
> For other destinations not listed above, please feel free to contact us.
